You know that King-y guy called Arthur, KING ARTHUR! Yeah, that guy. Well, get the story of King Arther in your head, great, now add some biscuits, bad-manners, wacky illustrations and a ton of awesome things to find in them… the result is a heap of fun.

Oh no! King Arthur has run out of biscuits! He must gather his trusty knights of the table round to get more. But the biscuit gathering challenge is no easy task, for they must take the biscuits from the beast guarding them!

A perilously fun and treacherous magical quest ensues but this beast is no fool. They who seek the joys of biscuity goodness must have the will, resolve and manners to obtain them.

Every page is jam-packed with funky, funny drawings all created by the author. The more you look at each picture, the more details you spot and it really sets a tone for the book and perfectly compliments the story. It’s meant to be fun and make you laugh and that’s exactly what these wonderful pictures do.

I read this to my 6 yr old and she really enjoyed the pictures and chuckled a lot watching the clever beast thwart its challengers attempting to take the prized biscuits.

The King’s Biscuits by Steve Priest is a really humourous adventure story that is not only packed with fun and an imaginative twist on King Arthur, but is helpful too. It teaches that things are not just given to those that demand it, but offered to those with the manners and deserve it.

Keep a lookout for the clever ‘Royal Cook’ at the end who offers a simple solution too. (King Arthur will be kicking himself!)
