We're Going On A Pumpkin Hunt by Goldie Hawk and Angie Rozelaar

From Nosy Crow -Three children are hunting for the perfect pumpkin to take trick or treating. But first, they’ve got to get through the sticky spiders’ webs, the flapping bats, and then – worst of all – enter a spooky HAUNTED HOUSE! Will they find a great big pumpkin there . . . or the biggest surprise of the night?

This Halloween-themed story has zingy neon ink on the cover and throughout, and is filled with cute characters and spooky surprises! Repeated phrases and sound words make this an interactive picture book, great for sharing with the whole family.

My Review

I think it’s fair to say that everyone who looks after children in some way has no doubt come across the Classic ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt‘ or at the very least… heard of it. It’s a classic. And rightly so.

Author Goldie Hawk has teamed up with Illustrator Angie Rozelaar to put a wonderful ‘halloweeny’ twist on the classic story where 3 friends dress up in their spookiest outfits and set off to find a pumpkin.

I was really excited to read this to my kids and they kept on at me as soon as they saw that wonderful cover. When we dived into the book we meet the cute, and always smiling characters dressed up as a mummy, a witch and a skeleton.

My kids were utterly entranced and in total suspense waiting to see what the friends had to go through. Especially when you add some fun voice acting in there! The rhyming is really fun and had both of my kids instantly reading along and joining in.

The illustrations are really lovely and engaging with bright colours and great costumes worn by the friends. No doubt this will make your kids want to dress up too and… why not.

On their spooky journey to find a pumpkin the characters come face-to-face with creepy cats with creepy eyes and sticky cobwebs and more! You’ll have to read it for yourself to find out the rest.

My kids had fun reading along to this and laughing at the funny and heartwarming illustrations. This is perfect for your little ones at Halloween and a picture book you should add to your collection no doubt. Have a read and let me know what you think in the comments below 🙂 Enjoy
